The Effects of Choice-making Through Highly Structured Setting for Autistic Disorder Middle Students

Abstract
Objective : This study investigated the effects of choice-making training through highly structured for Autistic Disorder middle students.

Methods : The participant was a autistic student with social skills, communication and behavior problems. Employing a multiful-baseline across behaviors design, a special teacher evaluated on-task behavior and off-task behavior such as aggressive, self-injured, and non-compliance behavior. A training procedure was conducted in a classroom that consisted of material with leisure activities for example, playing Omok, Noraebang, and mosaic for student.

Results : During intervention, the participant improved the rate of on-task behavior as well as reducing off-task behavior. The rates of on-task behavior and off-task behavior were higher of maintenance at the follow-up sessions that were conducted 4 weeks after intervention.

Conclusion : Choice-making through highly structured setting can be effective method to decrease off-task behavior and increase on-task behavior such as leasure skills for secondary students with Autistic Disorder.
